Pilates is a form of low impact exercise that was pioneered by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. It has become popular as a way to improve strength and flexibility and can be a wonderful whole body workout. Pilates can be either on a mat or on equipment such as a reformer.

Pilates can be tailored to all fitness and experience levels, and can be a wonderful way to incorporate exercise into rehabilitation following an injury.

Yoga is a practice that helps build strength and flexibility of your body and mind. We offer a variety of yoga practices so check out the descriptions linked below to see what might suit you. And don't worry - you don't have to be flexible! For group classes, you do need to be able to get up and down from your mat {sitting to standing} but if this isn't an option for you, that doesn’t mean you can’t practice yoga. Book a private yoga appointment to go over any alternatives/modifications that you can use in a group class. If you do have an injury or limitation, please make sure you let your teacher know before class.

Yoga classes incorporates pranayama {breathwork}, asana {poses}, and savasana {the best bit at the end of each class where you lie down for mediation / relaxation!}.

It doesn't matter what you wear as long as you can move easily and bring any extra layers/props that you need to be comfortable {eg, socks, clothing, blanket, cushion, eye pillow}. Also, avoid heavy meals for 1-2 hours prior to your practice.  The last thing you want is an uneasy feeling in your belly during your practice!
